Kokeshi こけしpainted with imagery, one of a Daruma, one of Tsugaru Kite painting . Originating in the mid to late Edo Period (1603-1868) kokeshi are regional folk crafts, traditionally from 温泉 onsen (hot-spring) communities where visitors would often purchase them as a reminder of their stay.
